Love Xocolat

11:02:00 PM

I've always loved Xocolat. I am not a foodie, so this won't turn into a fashion + food blog anytime soon, but Xocolat is the ONLY restaurant I can profess my love to. The café I will never get tired of. My affinity for Xocolat started during my undergraduate years, specifically during that painful moment of dysmenorrhea. I wasn't really a fan of pain killers, or soft drinks, and I had an intense craving for red velvet cake so Gabi (my roommate then, I still refer to her as my roommate even if we stopped living together for 3 years now) and I went to this quaint café in Katipunan and fell in love. They weren't trying too hard on proving a chill ambiance, and the food, the food is pure perfection. So I was ecstatic when I found out they have a San Juan branch (they also have a Libis branch, too).

Their red velvet cake, called That Red Cake is my favorite. Moist, not sickly sweet with cream cheese, their slices are big enough. I ordered Chicken ala Xocolat, which is ala kiev bursting with flavors,  and Gabi had the fish fillet with mango teriyaki sauce which seemed appetizing as we were ordering and lived up to its name. We can't order red velvet cake that day, so we tried their dark churros and it was amazing. It was crispy on the outside, yet soft and moist inside. How do they manage to do that? We had long moments of comfortable silence because we really pondered on how can heaven exist on that single plate. Seriously! And to top it off, we shared a Moca Loca drink, which is perfect. Oh, I feel like I'm using the word "perfect" too often for this post but I don't care.

How cool is this tabletop?
Must try!

Too bad we can't get a slice of That Red Cake! :(
